About Us
Habitat For Bats LLC is a grassroots, “Mom and Pop” operation dedicated to reversing the current trend of shrinking bat habitats. We manufacture quality, bat worthy bat houses and participate in educational events for kids and adults alike.
Why are we called Habitat For Bats? We build habitats for bats. Batty, huh.
Bats have been a passion for years and we knew they were facing a shrinking habitat and bad press resulting in bad public opinion. We officially began “doing something about it” in 2005 by building the best bat house available. We are looking forward to a future with more bats and less bugs!
It’s all about the bats,

Questions we often get:
Are you non-profit?
Not at this time. Currently, there is little value in paying the excessive fees for filing and completing the process. We’ve been advised we would have to separate our operation into two separate entities (Habitat For Bats – the non-profit and The Bat Shop – a for-profit woodworking shop) then buy our houses from ourselves. It’s something to do with a non-profit rule where you can’t get but 1/3 of your income from selling things. Besides being a paperwork nightmare, the endeavor would: lessen our ability to learn what’s new in the bat world, take us away from educating people on the importance of bats, keep our product offerings stagnant, and limit our cashflow.
Do you sell bats?
No. Bats are non-game wildlife and, in most cases and in most states, are protected by law.
Do you display live bats?
Unfortunately, no. In Georgia, the display of live bats, except in their permanent enclosure behind glass, is prohibited. We continue to look for unique ways to help educate the public about bats.
